The following concentrations in the Social Sciences discipline do not use in-text citations:
- Government
- History
- Legal Studies
- Medieval Studies
- Middle Eastern Studies
The International Relations discipline does use in-text citations.
Those fields that do not use in-text citations ( see list above) follow the Notes and Bibliography section of the Chicago Manual of Style (CMS), 16th edition.
When using footnotes or endnotes, please make sure that the corresponding footnote/endnote contains correct bibliographic information that's consistent with CMS and that the work appears in the bibliography.
International Relations uses the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA) - this manual recommends author-date-page type of in-text parenthetical citations.
